🖥️ Is Your Computer Slow? Let’s Fix That.

If your PC feels like it’s stuck in molasses — taking forever to boot, lagging when you open apps, or just dragging in general — don’t worry. You don’t need to be a tech pro to make it faster. Here are a few simple things you can do right now.

🔧 1. Restart Your Computer (Seriously)

Sometimes, your computer just needs a clean slate. A restart clears out temporary files and background processes that might be slowing things down. (This has fixed my pc issues a lot!)

🗑️ 2. Clean Up Your Startup Programs

Too many apps launching at startup = instant lag.

  • On Windows 10/11:

    1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager

    2. Click the Startup tab

    3. Right-click and disable anything you don’t need (like Spotify, Zoom, OneDrive)

Look for stuff you recognize — leave system apps alone.

🧹 3. Delete Temporary Files

Temporary files build up over time and can eat away at your speed.

  • Open the Start Menu, type Disk Cleanup, and run it

  • Check boxes like Temporary files, Recycle Bin, and Thumbnails, then hit OK

🔄 4. Check for Windows Updates

Outdated software can slow you down — or cause weird bugs.

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update

  • Click Check for updates and install anything it finds

🚫 5. Uninstall Programs You Don’t Use

More apps = more background tasks. Clear the clutter:

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps

  • Uninstall anything you don’t recognize or no longer use

If you’re unsure what something is, Google it first before removing.

⚙️ 6. Optional: Upgrade Your Hardware

If your PC is still slow after all this, your RAM or hard drive may be holding you back.
Consider upgrading to:

  • At least 8GB of RAM

  • A solid state drive (SSD) instead of a hard drive
